Mention Ungcheon-dong in Yeosu, and everyone thinks of Yeulmaru first. It's already well known as the cultural venue you go to for a big concert or an exhibition. But what a lot of people apparently walk right past is that, just next to Yeulmaru, connected on foot along the coast, there's said to be another park with a walking trail and a camping area. It's called Ungcheon Waterfront Park — true to its name, it's known as a path that runs right alongside the sea. It's said to be a good fit if you show up early for a Yeulmaru show and have time to kill, or if you're not quite ready to head straight home after the performance ends. It hasn't been widely covered in tourist guides yet, so today Sudal's pointing it out.
A seaside trail right next to Yeulmaru
Ungcheon Waterfront Park is said to be a coastal park located in Ungcheon-dong, Yeosu, near Yeulmaru. As the name suggests — 'chinsu' roughly meaning 'friendly with water' — it's reportedly meant to describe a park that sits close to the shoreline, and walking along it, you're said to find stretches where the Yeosu sea opens up right beside you. Since Yeulmaru itself is such a large facility, many visitors only check out the parking lot or the plaza before turning back, but apparently just a few steps past the building, toward the water, a quiet trail picks up. Along the way there are said to be spots where the sea view opens wide, including, it's said, a place where you can look back at Yeulmaru's distinctive silhouette from across the water. People describe it less as a polished tourist attraction and more as a quiet neighborhood park locals stop by for an evening breeze — even those who've visited Yeulmaru many times reportedly say this is their first time walking the trail.

Besides the walking trail, Ungcheon Waterfront Park is said to have a space set aside for camping. Exactly how many spots there are, or how developed the facilities are, seems to vary by source, so it's hard to say for certain here — but there are consistent mentions of people pitching tents and staying overnight. Being able to camp right by the sea reportedly draws some families out in summer. That said, whether operating hours or a reservation system are officially set is something worth checking, so if you're planning to camp, it's a good idea to ask Yeosu city or the relevant office in advance. Plenty of people just walk through and head home, and plenty more spread out a mat and simply watch the sea — so even without camping gear, it's said to be an easy place to stop by. Some visitors say just sitting on a bench with nothing packed was more than enough.
Pair it with Yeulmaru for a half-day loop
This park's biggest draw is really its location, right next to Yeulmaru. If you come for a show or exhibition and find you've got time to spare, you're said to be able to walk over to the park next door without even moving your car. Or flip the order — catch the sea breeze at Ungcheon Waterfront Park first, then wander through Yeulmaru's lobby or plaza afterward. If you're a traveler who only hits Odongdo or Nangman Pocha Street around downtown Yeosu, swinging one day toward Ungcheon to pair the cultural venue with a seaside walk is a good way to see Yeosu differently. With kids in tow, just having a trail to stretch their legs on before or after a show is said to make the whole day feel less rushed. Plenty of people say they wandered in with low expectations and left charmed by the quiet sea view. Some even say booking a Yeulmaru show with this park already penciled in makes the whole Yeosu itinerary feel a lot less packed.
