Today I want to slowly walk through what kind of place this actually is, and why people are said to visit even on days with no show at all. When people talk about Yeosu's sea, they usually think of Odongdo or Dolsan first, but I've heard Yeulmaru deserves a spot right next to them, being just as close to the water.

A Cultural Complex Facing the Sea

Yeulmaru is said to be a cultural complex built facing the sea in Ungcheon-dong, Yeosu. As the name suggests, with GS Caltex attached to it, it's said to be a cultural facility built together with a local company and donated to the city of Yeosu — though I can't confidently tell you exactly when it opened or how its interior facilities are precisely laid out. What I've heard is that it's known to house both a performance hall and an exhibition space together, and it's often mentioned among Yeosu locals as a cultural spot where performances and exhibitions, big and small, keep taking place. You could just stop by briefly to see the sea on your way somewhere else, or if you have more time, settle onto the lawn and stay a good while.
